Dr. Barney Lyon (D. Min, Westminster Theological Seminary) with his wife, Deborah, and their six children, planted CBC in 1981. After several locations in Brooklyn Park and Linthicum, in 1988 the church moved to 585 Old Oak Rd, Severn (originally a 44-acre farm.) Barney Lyon retired in 2016, and Matthew Lyon became the lead pastor. In 2019 the property at 585 Old Oak Rd was sold to Harvest Bible Chapel. in 2020 the church purchased their new property on Reece Road and changed their name to Reece Road Baptist Church.
Reece Road Baptist Church has always been committed to the gospel of Jesus Christ, especially through expository preaching from the authoritative text of Scripture, and hands-on ministry to people.
